Aggressiveness of Colon Cancer Can Differ Greatly from Patient to Patient

Dr. Tomislav Dragovich discusses why some colon cancers can be more harmful than others. Our genes can influence the way cancer affects our bodies.

“We are beginning to decipher the genes, the genetic code of colon cancer. We can tell by testing for some of these molecular markers how that patient will respond to therapy,” says Dr. Tomislav Dragovich. Every patient and every cancer is different in some way.

Board certified in medical oncology and hematology, Dr. Tomislav Dragovich specializes in treating cancers of the digestive tract. He earned his doctorate from the University of Belgrade School of Medicine in Yugoslavia. Dr. Dragovich then went to the University of Chicago for his internship, residency and hematology/oncology fellowship.
